The Harpsden Oval nestled beautifully into the Oxfordshire hills like a baby at its mother bosom. The sound of drives off Henleys 1st Tee occasionally punctured the still summer air like mosquitos being swatted on a thigh. ?
The team had negotiated the river Thames and arrived in time for a professional warm up. For the first time this season, the Packham’s didn’t have to cross the river. Ironically usually first to arrive, Sam just made the 2nd over ? (Mary Ann great to see you again, looking great and supporting. X) we forgive you ?. X
Slightly different report tonight by individual. We won the toss and elected to field. Everyone bowled 2 overs and we limited Harpsden to 84 for 5 off 20. We chased it down for the loss of 5 wickets with 4 overs to spare. Our 2nd 20 pointer. Well Done.
I am particularly proud of the way the boys conducted themselves tonight - So a cricket win and a “conduct” win. ?.
1) Rohan Rajan - 22 runs 2-12-0-1. Protected his wicket saw of the openers. Professional display.
2) Oli Godleman (wkt) Best keeping to date. Only 2 byes and looked lively behind the stumps. More encouraging and vocal behind the stumps. 1 run but got a new ball swinger.
3) Aadith Chandra (vice cpt) 19 runs, 3-0-12-2. 40 run 3rd wicket partnership with Rohan. Composed.
4) Johnny Evans (cpt) 2-0-10-0. Got a shocking LBW decision that he hit so a duck today. However a brilliant display of captaincy giving everyone a bowl and managing the side. Super Leader. Respected.
5) Louis Banks 2-2-2-0 bowled well against lower order but his 18 runs under some pressure brought a calm to the chase. Very Solid and great to see back. 2 catches at point off Aadith leg spin. Finisher.
6) Frederick Fuller 2-4-0-1 showing some good pace and slowed down their big hitting batsman with accurate bowling. Did not make 50 this week. Agile in the field. Team player.
7) Charlie Fuller 2-13-0-0 opened the bowling and got some fantastic swing. Another Brilliant catch and Looking very solid in Bat now taking us home with Louis. All rounder!!
8) Ben Duxbury 2-0-0-4 I had the pleasure of watching his overs. Impossible to score off perfect full line and length. Truly superb spell and against their best batsman. DNB Dangerously good.
9) Mani Singh 2-0-6-0 another great spell of reliable swing Bowling. DNB. Very Reliable.
10) Noah Brown 1-0-0-6 a good first league over. Showing composure and looking comfortable in the team now DNB
11) Sam Packham 2-0-6-1 Sam bowled the last 2 overs and should be proud of his overs. A cracking catch from Charlie gave him a wicket off the last ball. Improving all the time DNB.
Thanks to Dave for umpiring. Thank you boys for being clinical, humble and true gentleman.
